The Annual General Meeting of Meals on Wheels (MOW) Gunnedah was held on 29 November 2016 where a small group of enthusiastic community members attended to elect the Committee for 2016/2017.
Shenhua Watermark Community Liaison Officer, Debbie Watson, attended and was re-elected as Junior Vice President of the organisation, a position which she has held for the past 2 years. This commitment continues to enhance the relationship between Shenhua staff and their involvement with the community.
Shenhua staff have been involved with Meals on Wheels since April 2013 with 13 staff consistently rotated on a 10 day roster and another 10 available for emergency call-outs. This year staff attended 79 allocated volunteer deliveries of meals to the elderly.
In 2015 Shenhua was awarded the Regional Development Australia Northern Inland award for Innovative Community Contribution for their volunteering efforts with Meals on Wheels. This is a multicultural, mining company Meals on Wheels first with a commendable 83% of the Shenhua workforce contributing to the Gunnedah community in an innovative approach to community contribution and integration.
