On Friday 23 August, the staff of Shenhua Watermark took part in hosting Daffodil Day, one of Australia's bet known and popular fundraising events.
Daffodil Day raises funds for Cancer Council to continue its work in cancer research, providing patient support programs and prevention programs to all Australians. To the Cancer Council, the daffodil flower is a symbol for hope for a cancer-free future.
Shenhua Watermark's Community Liaison Officer, Debbie Watson organised the event on behalf of Shenhua's staff.
"Each day more than 100 Australian will die of cancer. For Shenhua to participate in a national fundraising event with all proceeds going towards cancer research and prevention programs is critical for demonstrating that Shenhua's goal is not just to operate a mine but to become an active and valued member of the community," Ms Watson said.
"I am very much looking forward to Shenhua getting involved in next year's Daffodil Day to continue the company's ongoing commitment to supporting the local community," Ms Watson said.
