On 26 June 2014 a public hearing will be held in Gunnedah where community members will have the chance to voice their opinions about the $850 million Shenhua Watermark Coal Project. An independent Planning Assessment Commission will be chairing the hearing.
The aim of the hearing is to ensure the community has an opportunity to raise concerns and voice support following public exhibitions of the project in early 2103.
Shenhua Project Manager, Paul Jackson said he was very confident that the PAC's three-person panel would accept that agriculture and mining can co-exist in the Liverpool Plains and recommend the project's approval.
Following the reviews, the commission will report back to the NSW Department of Environment and Planning on its findings and recommendations
