Shenhua Supports Harmony Day

Publish Time:2014-03-27
ON 21 March staff from Shenhua Watermark attended a morning tea at the Winanga-Li Aboriginal Child and Family Centre. Shenhua currently supports the Centre by way of Shenhua Hour - a company initiative aimed at promoting active staff involvement within the local community where staff attend the Centre on a monthly basis to assist in various activities with the children.
The message of Harmony Day is 'Everyone Belongs'. It is a day to celebrate Australia's diversity. It is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world.
Approximately 30 people attended the morning tea from many diverse backgrounds such as China, South Africa, Indigenous and Elders and Australia. Wayne Griffith, Centre Manager, said that the day was an important way of learning and understanding how all Australians from diverse backgrounds equally belong to this nation and make it a better place.
Attendees were encouraged to share their culture by way of a plate of food from their homeland and a wonderful array of diverse food was available for the tasting.
